Goes well with: Doosa, Idly , Cheppathi
Ingredients:
- Cooking Oil – 3 tbsp
- Potatoes – 4 Nos
- Onion(large) – 2 Nos
- Tomatoes( medium) – 2 Nos
- Ginger – 1 Inch
- Garlic – 5-6 cloves
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
- Chana dal(kadalai) – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1 strand
- Green Chilli – 3 Nos
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Cashew – 5 Nos (optional)
- Salt – As required
- Water – 500 ml
Ground Masala Preparation:
- Take a grounding bowl and add fennel seeds , clean ginger, unpeeled garlic, green chillies roughly ground them all and keep it aside.
Pre-cook Potatoes:
- Peel the potato skin off , wash them and cut them in cubes and add into a pressure cooker.
- Cut 1 Onion and 2 tomatoes at random size and add them into the cooker.
- Add water, turmeric powder and salt .
- Leave it cook for 2 whistles and roughly mash them
Cooking Method:
- Take cooking pan heat it and add oil
- Add mustard seeds when they start to crack add chana dal, cumin seeds, ground masala and curry leaves
- Saute them all nicely add straight thin cut onions and stir them until it turns golden brown
- Add turmeric powder and mashed potatoes into the pan
- Mix them all together and add salt if required , leave it cook for 5 mins and off the stove.
- Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve .
Have it cheppathi or make it into Masala Dosa and enjoy this yummy quick dish.
