Prawn Semi-dry

Prawn Masala semi-dry

Preparation Time: 45mins

Serves: 6 Nos

Goes well with : Rice,Chapati, Dosa

 

Ingredients:

  • Prawn                                  – 1kg
  • Onion(Medium)                 – 2 Nos.
  • Tomatoes (Large)              – 3 Nos.
  • Ginger                                 – 2 Inches
  • Garlic                                   – 1 Bulb
  • Green Chillies                     – 3 Nos.
  • Cloves                                  – 4Nos
  • Green Cardamom               – 3Nos
  • Cinnamon                             – 1 Small piece
  • Fennel seeds                        – 2 tsp
  • Black Pepper                        – 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves                        – 2 Strands
  • Coriander Leaves                 – 5 Strands
  • Turmeric Powder                  – 2 tsp  
  • Red chilli Powder                  – 1.5 tbsp (Add More if required)
  • Coriander Powder                – 2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala powder         – 2 tsp
  • Cooking Oil                           – 30 -50 ml
  • Salt                                         – As per your taste

Ginger Garlic Paste:

  • Clean and Wash (Ginger, Garlic, 2 Green chillies, 2 strands Coriander leaves)
  • Add these in a mixer Jar along with Fennel seeds, Black Pepper
  • Grind them all together to a fine paste

Prawn Cleaning:

  • Remove the digestive tract from prawn
  • Wash in clean normal water adding some Turmeric powder  ( reduces strong smell)

Cooking Method:

  • Heat the Pot and add Oil
  • Add Cloves, Cardamom, Cinnamon , Fennel
  • Add finely Chopped Onion and Curry leaves 
  • Stir few mins until onion turns transparent and brown
  • Add Ginger/Garlic paste , keep the stove in medium flame
  • Slit and add Green chilli
  • Keep Stirring until raw smell goes
  • Add small cut tomatoes to the masala and mix well for few mins until oil separates
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt – stir them all for 2 mins to blend nicely
  • Add washed prawns to the masala and mix well
  • Leave the flame in medium to cook for 15- 20 mins
  • Add garam masala for the Aroma(optional)
  • Stir the masala until all water drains 
  • Turn off the flame
  • Garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves.

Finally your spicy prawn semi-dry is ready to serve. Enjoy with family and friends…
