Taro/Sepangkizhangu Fry

Taro - Sepankizhangu fry

Preparation Time: 30mins

Serves: 5 Nos

Goes well with : Dal rice, Curd rice, Rasam rice, Sambar rice

 

Ingredients:

 

  • Sepankizhangu                   – 500gms
  • Mustaard seeds                 – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder                – 1 tsp  
  • Red chilli Powder                 – 1 tbsp (Add More if required)
  • Cooking Oil                           – 50 ml
  • Salt                                         – As per your taste
  • Water                                      – 1 cup
  • Lemon                                     – 1 No
  • Curry Leaves                         – 2 Strands
  • Onion (small)                         – garnishing/ decorating

Pre-Cook Sepankizhangu:

 

  • Wash and add them in a pressure cooker with water
  • Leave it for 1 whistle

 

Cooking Method:

 

  • Heat the wok and add Oil
  • Add mustard seeds and curry leaves
  • Add the boiled Taros and saute them
  • Add turmeric, red chilli powder and salt leave it medium flame until raw smell goes
  • Carefully saute them from getting mashed
  • Do not allow them to burn so saute often gently
  • Once the masala is coated properly, keep it in medium-high flame and keep sauteing
  • Garnish it with curry leaves , lemon juice
  • Decorate it with Cut onions
