Dips : Coconut chutney, Tomato Sauce
Ingredients:
- Chana Dal – 1.5 cup
- Onion (large) – 1 no
- Banana flower – ½ quantity
- Mint leaves – 5-6 strands
- Coriander leaves – 4 strands
- Dry red chillies – 6-8 nos
- Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
- Ginger – ½ inch
- Curry leaves – 1 strand
- Salt – required amount
- Oil – To fry
Pre-cook preparation:
- Soak chana dal for 2-3 hrs. Minimum 2 hrs is a must.
- Drain them completely with no water, then add them in mixer and grind , do not grind into paste.
- Ground fennel seeds, ginger, red chilly coarsely
- Cut onion, curry leaves, mint leaves, and coriander into very small pieces.
- Add all these items into a bowl with salt and mix them well
Cooking Method:
- Take a frying pan and add required amount of oil, leave it to boil
- Keep the stove in medium flame and make patty of the vada mixture and drop them carefully into oil
- Add more depending on the size of a pan
- Leave them cook for a minute and flip them to cook the other side
- Cook them all until they turn slight brown, do not leave to burn
- Repeat the process and finish cooking all vada’s
Serve these healthy crunchy snacks on a plate with chutney or simple sauce(kids favourite) to have a wonderful time with family and friends.
